I cleaned my cedar chest today
And threw a lot of things away.
Stacks of letters, long unread.
Memories dancing in my head.
Faded years and faded faces.
Tokens gleaned from many places.
Treasured once and now passe.
Remnants of a vanished day.
It looked so neat when I was through,
But I lost a dream or two!

Sorta sent a chill up and down my spine.  Don't throw those dreams away, you might need them someday.*S*

Great poem.

I enjoyed this Betty Lou. 'Tis better to have the clutter than lose those precious links to those memories, isn't it? Very well expressed!

BettyLou~
I've tried that ... but it never worked.
I keep EVERYTHING !
I spend hours going through the cedar chest ...
and have never been able to part with even one token.

My nostalgic heart just gets in the way.
But ... I think I like it that way.

I've been trying to clean out some memory stashes lately, but I seem to end up with lots of reminiscing and very little tossing.   This is beautiful.

illusions:  I guess that's a pretty safe place to keep things.  At least they aren't totally lost that way.

I liked this alot, I love tokens. Items made powerful by the mind and the heart. And to toss them is to sever a tie to that memory.

Red_Feather:  It's hard for me to throw things away too, however my chest was overflowing with old letters from friends, programs from concerts and plays from years ago, etc.  I had to make some room for all the things I am saving now!
