~Adrift~

In a moment of need and perhaps weakness ...
I allowed my self to again feel ... to again breathe.
Exhausted from struggling in these chains,
I granted my heart a desperately needed reprieve.

Searching for sanctuary in the depth of love's warm waters ...
I let the illusion take me down.
First baptized by your beauty,
now cold waves of reality cover me and I have begun to drown.

I only wanted to feel like me again,
I only wanted to help you ...  again breathe.
How naive and blind love makes us ...
God, how it hurts when the heart has been deceived.

I'm too weak to swim back to safe harbors ...
I'm just too damn tired to fight the tide.
Caught in the current of this pain,
again destined to drown in these tears I cant keep inside.

I have only myself to blame ...
I always give too much of me -- away.
I only need a little distance to fall,
I feel like this time -- I've fallen to stay.

I surrender to the losses ...
I've been here so many times before.
Adrift on this ocean of emptiness ...
praying for rescue ... but your no where to be found on shore.

Janet Marie

Janet,
If you tell me where you are going to fall I'll try and catch you. Excellent poetry

JanetMarie~
It takes strength to write from these depths.
You've survived the undertow -
now swim for the shore !
Oh, I think that's your muse in the Lifeguard chair !
Oh, my gosh ... a Baywatch HUNK ! !
Swim ! Darn you, SWIM !

JM,

I remember this one!!  Nice writing!!  Hope that muse returns soon for you.  Oh how I can relate to this one.  That is exactly how I feel at times.  Thanks for the repost!

This is kinda sad gater girl, but great writing. I don't think I caught it before, or as you know, bad memory. So if I did, well, the one good thing about a bad memory, is everything seems like the first time. Now that can have advantages....

JM...this hits so very close to home...the want, the lonliness of trying and never knowing whats gonna happen next...wonderful read here.

I must have missed this the first time around...deeply sorrowful words, exquisitely woven my friend.  I love the way you use elipses and hyphens to make the reader stop and take it in...it works wonderfully. Great work!

Janet Marie--I hug you to my heart my sister twin...

but a thought does arise---what will it take to "a-muse" you?   Oh...  Nevermind.

Oh.  and another question?  Who is Thelma? and who is Louise?  and of course we hold open auditions for Brad Pitt...(now there's an interesting challenge...grinning again m'twin...)  Love you much...

how did i miss a janetmarie poem? oh, girl, the heart is heavy when i devour these words...once again you can tap into everyone's thoughts and feelings and emotions and personalize them into a wonderful, profound poem.
even if the muses are being unkind, you have a gift that is matched only by very few.

Jan, I am running out of wordds to describe how brilliant your poetry is. In fact I am left speechless after each read. Old or new your words are always a treasure.

Janet,
Forgive the pun when I say that your flirt of a muse is gone adrift .... but then what the heck... all these glorious old poems come back for a visit...

I hope this time she is gone only to grab a bit of sun... and a slice of fun...

regards,
Sudhir

Oh my dear Janet Marie ... so sorrowful are these beautiful words you've penned. I hope this is a feeling long past, and that you've risen to heavenly heights since first posting this lovely poem.

Best wishes,
/Kit

I'm over here baby, on the reef waiting with
a great big hug.(wishing)   I adore how you can open your heart and spill it onto the paper when you have your muse around.  This  is a beautiful pouring of pain and love versed close to perfection.  Another JM jewel

JM...check out one I posted yesterday [inspired by E. Santos]...you may find a surprise...

I'll go look for your muse, but I think there must be a double around, for this pleased me much...

Janet how did I miss this jewell?

I am sure there is someone on the shore looking to reel you in. But this is the blues in a beautiful way....very little wonder you love Van.....I enjoyed the yearning cry in this poem, it's so blue and softly sad.....write on sweet poet...there's work to do.
