         Seeds of Love

'Neath low, the rich and loamy soil,
   First seed is planted there,
A miracle, born out of love,
   Enriched with warmth and care.

Held gently in protected realms,
   Tucked hidden by the light,
Till souls awaken, venture forth,
   Into the world, take flight

From out the soil of tender love,
   The little rosebud grows;
It's heritage so well defined,
   In petals of a rose.

Well nurtured by the family bonds
   Of trust, and love, and worth;
And roots that carry firm beliefs
   From garden's common earth.

The flower to itself, brings forth
   A beauty all it's own;
A delicate, and fragile sight,
   Yet sings a silent song.

However, joined with family,
   A symphony appears,
With hues of radiant colors,
   To define it through the years.

The flower's spirit blossoms,
   All content and joy within;
The fountain of its happiness
   Is drawn from next of kin.

Though winds may blow and threaten
   To belie from outside force;
This sanctuary grounds it to
   It's past and future course.

A canopy of kinship
   Wraps about this single stem;
To form a brilliant landscape,
   Countless treasures found within.

From infancy to golden years,
   Through all the days and nights;
A family's love and comfort
   Are the flowers of our delights.

Liz and I thought we should post a little explanation after the poem for you. Over these last few months, we've grown to feel like "poetic twins" because our style of writing strikes us each with such familiarity.  We thought it would be fun to try to write something together, and see if we could distinguish who wrote one stanza from the other in the final result.  You may be able to guess but I can't tell myself anymore!

I can't thank you enough Liz, for asking me to join you in this collaboration it is I, who am honored.  PS. Ron, I hope this doesn't cause a problem since we did place it as a book submission.

I think the magic of this piece is not to be able to distinguish who wrote what, but that you blended and melded as one. What a treasured piece, worthy of many, many votes...

Dear twin lady poets; Being the mother of 6, and totally family oriented, I was so moved by the beauty you have both created here.
I'm going to be very brave and chance this...I think the first stanza was Kit and the second, Liz. Am I right? Or, does it matter, the whole together is such perfection! Love, ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Thank you for your wonderful responses to this poem, although Ellie's guess was incorrect. I don't suppose it matters in the least who wrote what, but that we write and think alike.
Thanks so much for your lovely remarks
I would like to thank Kit for the honor of writing with her, as I have admired her superb phrasing in her poetry.
Love
