  i've sat here awhile
  just trying to write
thinking of things to inspire me
at 19 i wrote with such rage
  and yet by 21 depression
then when cobain died i took a 2 year ride
now i have a wife and a son
  i'm thankful of course
  best part of my life
but i've wrote barely a word
since i first met my wife
  some love letters - sure
  but nothing for me
  so i've sat here awhile
but the words won't come free
so i drift back in time
  looking for my inspiration
  trying to remember those nights
  a cycle of depression/frustration
  my mind wanders off
it asks "if i was ten
would i give it all up and start over again?"
  no more bad memories
  and no one to blame
i think of a life with never a shame
  i'd not make the mistakes
  of sorrow and strife
  but give up the good
to get the bad from my life?
i think right away of my incredible wife...
...what was i saying about pain in my life?

How many of us would give up the good things we have now to change the past??

Don't live in the past, live for the future.

Great writing

This is awesome....I used to write as a
moody teen and then got married had children
and stopped...only when I joined here did I
find my pen again.... and as for giving up
the pain...yep often wished that too, but
then I wouldn't be who I am now...don't know
if that is a good thing or not    Great
writing...beatiful tribute to the love of
your wife too...taking all the pain away~

Tony,

I can relate to this well as I'm sure others will.

I stopped writing for 15 years, life overtook me and I just didn't feel the need to write.  But when I reached a pivital point in life, I started again, now I'm determined not to let anything stop me. I find a time of day and write at the same time every day.  Sometimes its good, sometimes lousy, but let it all pour onto paper.

I too can relate to this poem.  I used to write when I was in high school.. but then the words just stopped coming.  A few months ago I started again and I couldn't be more thankful.  Wonderful writing once again.  I am quickly becoming a fan

You have an incredible wife...thats super. Try writing about how she makes you feel, just to look at her.
Or write about the seasons and how thankful you are that she is there.
Or maybe your muse is on vacation, like with a lot of us.
You may want to put your pen behind your ear and not worry about it until the muse strikes.
Good luck!
Oh....and yes, I do have a gentle opinion on everything. ROTF!!!

I can't relate to the writing part, but I can sure relate to the ups and downs. Perhaps you can't write (although you just did!) because life is good to you right now. You have a great wife, that's all that counts

Tony...we all have days when it feels like inspiration has fled...then you look into the eyes of your child, or stael a kiss from your lover and it all comes flooding back.

never say never

Tony, we've all been there...when you're in the mood and have the sneaky little urging to write, write...hop over to Challenges Forum and you'll be sure to see something that will plant a seed and BINGO you'll have stuff flowing from your pen like never before...
