Chasing Fool's Gold ...

Treasure to find on long journey's wake
Riches beyond compare be mine to take
Brass, silver, platinum and gold
Glimmering metals to capture and hold

Diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires
Come gleaming beams of facets desires
Necklaces, bracelets, tiaras and rings
Gifts to behold that sparkle and sing

Set upon my trek's adventure and path
Road before me promises toil and wrath
So why travel to dangerous lands afar?
Alluring wealth, be my wish upon a star?

To look no further than to my own gems
Family's support, no matter the blems
Child's gifts sparkle more than jewels
Chase love's riches, lest I be the fool

My calling before me, let quill be my offering;
For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive.

MA, this was lovely. I especially loved the line "childs gifts sparkle more than jewels". Something about that really got to me. Take care, Juls

M.A., to recognize the genuine treasures in life and be able to inscribe that message  to verse as eloquently as you have is a sweet gifting to your readers. Thank you.

(loved the "no matter the blems" line...clever!)
