                 MY BOOK OF LIFE

The pages of my life, some yellow, old and torn.
Don't say you know just how I feel, unless my shoes you've worn.
Some seem to pass so quickly, while others take their time,
Each being etched with memories, some with romantic rhyme.

Life seems so tough as a child, yet as the years go on,
I wonder, has the melody changed, or could it be the song?
The rules are forever changing, whether I've been told or not,
Now did they change the book of life, or is it just the plot?

So many choices must be made, each one taken in stride,
Do I stand up for what I believe, or is it time to swallow my pride?

So take the time to ponder, then fight for this campaign,
Follow my heart, but keep in mind, there'll always be some rain!
I may have days with thunderstorms, others just a cloud,
But always remaining true to myself, I'll stand out in the crowd!

Remembering there'll always be days I just can't seem to go on,
This is when I need my friend to sing my favorite song.
So, as I jump to conclusions, or fly off of my rope-
Please try to be understanding and redeem the slightest hope.
It's not always me within myself, crushed from all the fear,
Just take my hand on this walk through life, and let me shed a tear!

This walk is long and filled with strife, down each and every road,
Now my friend becomes an angel, and helps to lighten the load.
Upon my shoulders, all this weight, seems a little lighter,
And every time our paths connect, things suddenly become much brighter!

Continuously in the back of my mind, I knew it could be done,
With the gentle words and help of my friend, this battle I have won!
So as they lay me down to rest, this blessing I impart,
I may be gone, but my love lives on, FOREVER in your heart!

I'm so sorry I missed this the first time round Oh2beme (I remember from a response, I thought your pen name was great!)

This is a wonderful poem and excellent first post! Your rhythm, rhyme, and thoughts read so fluently throughout.  I've had friendships such as this, and you've described it so perfectly ... some give and take, but always love. I enjoyed this very much!  I hope to read more!

Best wishes,
/Kit
