I love you like I love,
memories of the peaceful kind.
Like sunny days and lemonade
and all the gifts that Grandma gave,
cotton candy and ferris wheels
and time alone when dreams turn real.
I love you like I love
morning dew on fields of grain
and dawning sun through window panes,
cool clear lakes and boating trips
and mother's favourite Sunday dish.

I love you like I love
the delicate taste of the finest wine.
Like the laughing thrill of bumper cars
and sleeping out under the stars,
singing song on New Years Eve
and listening to the roaring sea.
I love you like I love
walking in the evening rain
and the lonely call of a distant train,
the warming rush of London Gin
and the fire's glow when we're snowed in.

I love you like I love
the mystic call of the morning loon.
Like thoughts that come on winds that moan
and fire flies that chirp and glow,
roosters posed on weathervanes
and Autumn leaves on country lanes.
I love you like I love
family days at county fairs
and circus clowns with orange hair.
budding trees in early spring
and the bubblin talk of a mountain stream.

I love you for the quiet way you steal my day
and the love we share I can't explain.

ethome,
The first thing that I did when I went to Reply was to cast a vote for you and this poem. Where did you ever find the beautiful words that you put together in this work? This is so gracious, congradulations on a masterpiece in my eyes.

ehtome--This is absoluely wonderful...would that I had a different word...but all those things that I love too, that you love her like, make this pronouncement so much sweeter...and tis a big love you have.

Such imagery; I love the retrospective glances at childhood and the subtle joy you have imparted between the lines!

ethome,

So happy to see this beauty is a VOTW submission.  Excellent writing my friend.  I so enjoy the love that flows from your pen.  "I love you like . . . " is a fabulous line!!

A pleasure to vote!!

and my guy.
