Two Hearts

Two hearts beat in rhythm
With the pulsing of the stars;
One happy, strong, and cheerful,
The other quieted by scars.

Two hearts beat together,
Resounding into the night;
Speaking truths unto each other
Beyond the breadth of mortal sight.

Two hearts beat out a chorus
Underneath the black velvet sky;
And the heart full of scars
Tears of love begins to cry.

Two hearts beat a melody
Of faith and hope that heals;
Of friendship, trust, and courage
And the empty void they fill.

Two hearts beat on forever
Through the darkness, into the dawn,
And as the sun slowly rises,
These two hearts beat as one.

These are words I wish I had written. It's so true that although one heart is scarred and hurting, they can always rise again and meld with another. Beautiful work, Terry. Thank you.

Terry, this is a wonderfully written/expressed piece, though I do find one rought area.- the third and fourth lines of the third stanza;

"And the heart full of scars
Tears of love begins to cry."

These would flow much smoother if you did something like:

"And in the heart full of scars
Tears of love begin to cry."

Other than that...perfect....and even if you decide not to make a change of any kind to these line...I loved the piece.

     Glad you liked it, my friend.  You know, I, too, thought about the change you suggested, but for some reason it just sounds more powerful to me in the transposed state in which I wrote it originally.  But I apreciate your suggestion!  Good to hear from you!

Terry-these alone say it all and with the other words added it takes it beyond heaven.  Beautiful pure sincerity. Loved it.

This is absolutely beautiful!!!! The
tenderness of this piece is amazing...the
message, the idea, the imagery....perfection~

Underneath the black velvet sky;
And the heart full of scars
Tears of love begins to cry.

Two hearts beat a melody
Of faith and hope that heals;
Of friendship, trust, and courage
And the empty void they fill

I'm soaring on a cloud with this one!!!
Only one little thing wrong with
it......where's my submit box?????

Terry, this poem brought a lump to my throat with its intimate but familiar theme. So nicely written!

Terry, this is another beautiful, sensitive poem. "Two hearts beat as one"--this is as it should be.  I enjoyed this poem just as I have enjoyed others you have written.  Thank you.

TerryW~
Can feel the beat in this one.
Or rather make that 'two' !

'Two hearts beat a melody
Of faith and hope that heals;
Of friendship, trust, and courage
And the empty void they fill.'

Friendship keeps the hearts together.
