The dragon is a mythical beast
Capable of eating an entire feast
Green scales cover his skin
White teeth fill an evil grin

His gut displays a yellowish tint
Bright red eyes possess a glint
Claws are pointed and very sharp
Could shred to bits the strongest tarp

His long tail thrashes about
Beware if you travel this route
He will fight to the bitter end
It's a fierce message that he sends

His jaw now hangs agape
Resting in a gruesome shape
Hot orange colored flames
Shoot forth and stake their claim

The target is an old oak tree
It turns to ashes and falls free
Resting in a smoke filled pile
The dragon sleeps for a while

I liked this...and I smile, remembering a bumper sticker I'd seen once:

"never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and good with ketchup..."

smiles to you, Lone wolf...I am muchly enjoying your writing...

LoneWolf~
I have to say that I am so glad I found this one!  I have to tell you, Dragons are one of my most favorite things in the whole world!  I have an ever growing collection of both figurines and statues -- they are just so majestic!  And I think that I would never feel unsafe if I had a dragon around.......

Loved it!

Great!  I think we all love dragons and you've brought one to life, in all his splendor, here.

You pay homage to the myth of the dragon well, with some great imagery and exuberant lines
