I don't usually post here, but I thought I would try it out.  I wrote this poem as a tribute to all war veterans.  If you are reading this and are a war veteran or know someone in your family that is, I say thank you.  Your sacrafice has made it possible for my continued freedom.  Hope you like the poem.....

In the war thats taken him
from a land of peace.
A young man see's reality
through eyes filled with grief.
Now in the dirt mixed with blood
he buries his fellow man.
The evil deed has been done
and justice in his hand.

Never again will I see
a war so beyond belief.
as the one fought in the minds of those
who lived it long ago.
Again and again the death they see
each time killing a part of them.
For war kills more than men.
It fractures the fragile soul
which only God can mend again.

Jason

Jason,
I am neither a war veteran, nor do I have an immediate family scarred by any war... but I can feel a lot with your sentiments and can see what you mean...

well said, Jason ... i'm not a war veteran, but did serve active duty for 4 years ... being that close to it gives one some perspective, but obviously not the same as actually being in it ... thanks for sharing this ...< !signature-->

My calling before me, let quill be my offering;
For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive.

This is a wonderful post to Open Jason! Your words ring true in the hearts of many men and women ... the soul is fragile indeed.  Powerful writing Jason!

Best wishes (and thanks for writing such a sweet response earlier ... made me smile you did!   )

Thanks for the welcome into the group here.

Sudhir, Thank you very much for the welcome.
I am already a fan of yours.

Ma Miller, Thank you for your response and thank you for your contribution to the cause of freedom.

Kit, well Kit.  You are already a buddy of mine from the past.  I'm glad I got to see your work.  You don't realy put much poetry in teen, but your poetry is absolutely beautiful.

With kindes regards,
Jason C.
