There's got to be rain
   to make a rainbow
There's always dark before
   the dawn
Even with a lovely rose
   you get a sharpened thorn.
So why should love be
   different?
You take the bitter
   with the sweet
Building stronger ties
   between you
With each demon you
   defeat.
Loves promise is
   never easy
So take time to make
   it last
Just make your steps be in
   the right direction
Thats all anyone can
   ask.

Paula..
You spoke mountains here, and all of
  it the truth!!!
"..take time to make it last.."
Anything worth having takes work, including
  and especially a good relationship!!!!

           I really liked this one!!!!

Good advice here Paula.

"Even with a lovely rose
you get a sharpened thorn
so why should love be
different?
you take the bitter
with the sweet
Building stronger ties
between you
With each demon
you defeat."

For better or worse, according to the old style vows. They certainly fit in here with your words of wisdom.

"love's promise is
never easy
So take time to make
it last."

So true, take time and let love grow deeper,
patience and understanding become a big part of the whole picture.

Good writing!

Paula,
This flowed so well, from one verse to the next. I liked it, and thanks for writing it.
