Lighthouse On Old Cape Cod
~*Marge Tindal*~

Out across the water
reflected in the dark of night
A beacon beckons the ships at sea
guiding them with her external light

Steadily sending signals
to ships out on the ocean
Sweeping so intensely
waving with light-in-motion

Calling all within her sight
to draw closer to the shore
Lighting the way for wayfaring ships
beckoning evermore

If you chance to catch the glow
from a lighthouse on the bay
Wave a hearty salute
to the light that lights your way

*Dedicated to you, Nan.
Just cause I was thinking 'bout you.

Marge,
A very nice tribune to the lighthouse on Cape Cod. I have seen it and it is beautiful.

Hey there,
Living in CT, we are surrounded by lighhouses. This poem made me more aware of them than ever. We have fogghorns screaming tonite (winter in the cape) and I could not help but listen for a second time, This is such a cool poem... And blieve me, I am going to get some crazy looks next time I pass our old lighthouse, saluting and waving and all..  )

What a comforting light, the light from a lighthouse. I've often thought of the importance of the lighthouse, especially before this age of electronics. There have been some mighty cheers at the sight of one from wayfaring ships as you say in your poem.

This poem is very homespun and warm Marge... it's just delightful!

Marge--wonderful poem...I love a light house, almost as much as a fog horn...they have a certain ability to weave romance into a foggy night, but they are also important life savers.  Some day I will go to Cape Cod and think of this poem.

Marge, this is absolutely wonderful... Sorry it took me so long -  I was immersed in a project here - All done now...

I really love this - Lighthouses are indeed special, and you do our Cape Cod lights equally fine justice with your tribute...

Here's Nobska Light - One of Cape Cod's finest - at the end of my street....

Thanks again, my friend...
