I Remember You Here alone I smile with many thoughts of you So much to say since the rain's passed through I've been handed a miracle and here's to let you know I knew you years before and a long time ago... It's hard to believe how I've grown so strong I've realized, My Friend, you were never gone I can now understand how I've lived all that time You were the little girl I pictured in the back of my mind... When the night found me scared I held onto you Cause, there in my mind you were there with me, too I used to pray for you each time I fell down You were the one friend I called on when tears were found... I never really had someone to call my own So, even in my mind I wasn't alone You were the one I prayed for each new night And, somehow you were that hand that held mine tight... I remember you, Friend, though it's hard to believe So, it wasn't just recently we were lucky to meet It's that God gave me years to one day feel How he took my familiar prayer and he made you real... You were a vision I held onto when the world made me cry Now, God's placed you in person before my eyes With years at hand and here in my heart It took a memory to see we were never apart... Thank you for being my very best friend Though you hadn't realized you'd always been And, I still thank God for what he's able to do You were the wish I've waited to finally come true...
