Upon the Hour of Twilight

Upon the hour of twilight
we meet as lovers may
along the path that leads into
the dark before the day

Upon the hour of twilight
with fresh and fragrant hair
emerging from a daylong sleep
I dress to find you there

Upon the hour of twilight
a gasp when we embrace
we dance beneath the rising moon
and bathe within its grace

Upon the hour of twilight
we ache for minutes more
for darkling's drape to stay the sky
o'er love's forbidden floor

Upon the hour of twilight
as parting's kiss enthralls
we memorize each other's touch
til next the twilight falls

Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau

Remind me of the old Platters song, "Twilight Time."
Beautifully done and so free flowing, I loved the whole piece very much!

Claire, a truely beautiful poem.

the plot of our life sweats in the dark like a face the mystery of childbirth, of childhood itself grave visitations
what is it that calls to us?" p

Claire~
Exquisite - exquisite - exquisite !

'for darkling's drape to stay the sky'

'til next the twilight falls'

Doesn't get much prettier than these thoughts.

Hope things are good for you, my friend.
Love to you ~

Fantastic.
For the rest just look in your thesaurus.

Meadowmuse,
My goodness, I don't know what else to say. To have someone that can write like this would be heavenly. Wow, what a response I had when I read this poem.

Meadowmuse this poem is full of tenderness and the beauty of a new love.
"A gasp when we embrace.
We ache for minutes more.
As parting's kiss enthralls
we memorize each others touch
til next the twilight falls."
Really loved these lines...want to experience them...for a lifetime...James

Claire,

So tender yet mysterious to only meet in the twilight.  This was full of wonderful images.  Nice writing!!

In every word one feels the poets softened touch
One feels and hopes for so much
Enchantingly and so full of sentimence
One can see and feel them,
there in the darkness where they dance
This poem is very sweet and so well done
Loved it.
I think it should be also in the book, or?
