Even If In My Mind It feels like an eternity to me every new day I never thought in this lifetime you'd wander away I hold you still so close in my heart And, I count the days we sleep apart... Still around every corner I still hear your words And, your voice it comes to me still clearly heard I still find myself looking behind me for you I find my reasons, my dreams, are forever through... I have left, but a little heart, that so much used to be mine But, slowly, I lost heart, a little at a time So, I hold eternity just as far as it feels But, now, how could this smile you see ever be real,,, I only have what allows me to really be free And, it's there, my friend, you're waiting for me So, I go back to where love is easy to find And, I hold onto you, I do, even if in my mind... It's the only place I can go without any end And, always, just always, you're reaching, my friend I've never found a hand that I'd rather hold than yours A feeling I have waited so long for... It is just in a moment it would all seem to leave I then walked with calm and patience, both with me So, now I go back to where calm is easy to find I have your hand, I do, even if in my mind... I remember when all I needed was to close my eyes And, together, we'd always find ways to fly I looked over what many never had the chance to see And, with all my might, I lived, I believed... I know what it's like though to feel pouring rain But, you touched those hearts that waited the change For a while I was able to stand beneath it all I didn't mind the water, I let it fall... So, you see if you're here I can do anything I can stand the heartache and all it brings It's now that you've gone that I cry, my friend And, I stand under the heaviest water again... God, I've touched a part of life I can't ever get back And, I lost any and all reasons to ever laugh So, I go back tonight where strength is easy to find And, dry the tears, I do, even if in my mind... I wish you would carry me one more mile or two What I would give to finally be there with you I'll go the rest if I have your way to feel what I did I miss that time together when dreams were lived... Now, I go through the minutes and hours just looking behind I can't see a better road or a brighter kind So, I go back, far back, where peace is easy to find And, I pray, I do, even if in my mind... Good-bye is just the way one can walk beyond But, at least there's another way we both live on So, I go back, again, to where you're so easy to find And, I'll lie there forever, I will, even if in my mind...
