My Wings had not Rusted

Remember oh memory
how you once held me
and I curved with you
into a backdrop of running water

you touched my cheek
like a delicate blue egg
and indeed I felt like a bird
soft and fragile with waiting

the soft tick of time
fell sweet moments around me
and the grass purred with sound
casting the delusion of abandon

I took your lasting fingers
and let them break my innocence
and though I was struck
I fancied the dance of delusion

where could I have gone
to tower when I was so blinded
and my infant held me captured
by bewildering need

so I danced such circles
watered my bucket to full
again and again
as it seeped precious days

thinking I could not get out
but you had not imprisoned me
for the house was cards
and the wind was blowing

and when it fell
I was surrounded by fragments
of sharp pieces of pretense
and finally felt the pain of you

but I was free
and my wings had not rusted

Martie~
I wish you could be here to hear me
read your poetry ...

I read it
I enhale it
It fills me
and still I continue to feast ...

'so I danced such circles
watered my bucket to full
again and again
as it seeped precious days'

There you go ...
those charismatic circles again !
Flying 'round and 'round and 'round ...

I love the images that I get when I read one of your poems...I have realized that I read them slowly so as to enjoy what they breathe. This one is a true treasure and I thank you once again for blessing us.
