MEDIOCRITY'S BLISS

The ordinary, the sufficient, the everyday;
Screaming to escape to a higher plateau.

Feeling the pressure of over-performing;
Not gripping the reality of average achievement.

Working so hard to become something else;
Toil becomes leisure's partner for life.

Always a blurred vision as the final quest;
Never earning blue ribbons for the strife.

Finding perfection through rigors of practice;
Practice finding perfection rigorously impossible.

Store the learning for a different life;
Carry the experience over for next time.

Gain strength through continual search;
Knowing mediocrity's bliss, blind to perfection's faults.

My calling before me, let quill be my offering;
For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive.

Good read--I can definitly relate to the poem. I liked the first couple stanzas, especially due to their facile rhyme.
