           (A fairy tale before bed....)

"Will you ever love me?" he asked as they
danced 'neath the light of the moon..
Her long dark hair hung thick in curls,
From her lips came a mournful tune...

But from those lips no answer came..
It was as if she could not hear..
And from her eye a single drop that he
            saw was a glistening tear...

"I've waited for you so very long",
he said as she danced 'round the bend..
"I'll wait for you through time and space,
     through Hell and back again..."

His words became a silver mist
            suspended in the air..
They never reached the maiden's ears
     But vanished......who knows where!

And all this time, the maiden danced
            and hummed her mournful song..
Not coming close within his reach
            yet taking him along...

They reached a place where moonbeams
            opened up to morning's sky..
She turned to him, she blew a kiss,
            He knew it was goodbye...

     Then suddenly, upon her back..
            He saw her fairy wings..
All shiny gold and silver lace
            made up of wondrous things...

"You'll not remember me", said she,
"As hard as you may try..
But there will be another new love,
            beneath the stardust sky."

"I've granted you a wish this night,
            you'll get your heart's desire..
She'll dance with you throughout your life
            and never will she tire..."

He reached his hand to touch her
as she rose into the sky..
But mortal man he was that night and
             only
                  fairies
                          fly..........

( I wish you sweet dreams)

This was a beautiful fairy tale just as they all should be.  I did cast my vote for this as well.  My favorite part :

"You'll not remember me", said she,
"As hard as you may try..
But there will be another new love,
            beneath the stardust sky."

"I've granted you a wish this night,
            you'll get your heart's desire..
She'll dance with you throughout your life
            and never will she tire..."

He reached his hand to touch her
as she rose into the sky..
But mortal man he was that night and
             only
                  fairies
                          fly..........

simply magical.
