Minnie Mouse

Slams the door of the candle-lit room
unable to look again at the couple as they lie,
wrapped in each other's arms,
after uncovering the secret betrayal

Feathers, smooth and white,
belonging to Daisy Duck,
float seductively in the hall,
mocking her as she runs, broken-hearted,
out into the sunshine

She has been living a fairy-tale life,
her head in the clouds,
deceived by the cute little ears
and big white-gloved hands

Teary-eyed and determined,
she boards the bus leaving toon town,
finding her seat among the street sweepers
and ticket-takers

"Let him keep his little fantasy," she thinks,
as she heads out into the real world,
"behind his squeaky-clean image,
he is really just a rat".

Poor Minnie! I guess Mickey was feeling ducky. At least he wasn't feeling goofy!!

Very creative....love it!

Very creative description of infidelity.
Never seen it put quite like that.
Too bad you had no rat trap in place.

Thanks everybody, I feel sorry for Minnie too!
I'd hate to see what happens when Donald Duck finds out...lol

Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!
A duck and a mouse!!!!!
Lucky you got out minnie!
Seriously, you've given cartoons and fairy tales a whole new meaning.
Is this life really nothing but a cartoon?...

Best wishes

This type of poem is called apocryphilia.
I learned about it in a college class a couple of years ago.
The idea is to choose a familiar character, like goldilocks, Job's wife, or Atilla the Hun and place it in an unexpected situation.
The challenge is to try and surprise the reader, while keeping the story logical, and under 25 lines.

I love to experiment with different styles of poetry and this type is alot of fun!

This is kind of a cool idea sticking disney characters into unexpected positions...
watch out girls that crazy mouse is on the lose...he's out of control...and now Minnie's available...what would Walt Disney think about all this...ha..ha..James

That was very very creative, never looked at making a poem based on cartoon characters. Very intersting way of writing though, I liked it....
