Between a laugh and a tear...

Born to this world, that winters day
A special gift, brought suns warming ray
The miracle of life, a joyful gift to all
A fathers proud moment, brings a smile to recall

Remember that cry, that first breath of air
Into this world you came, child without a care
Wrapped with care and thrust into fathers arms
That first moment, even then, undeniable charms

Years now past since that faithful day
Never been so happy that you came my way
The suns warm rays, you they still follow
You've grown and blossomed, seeking your tomorrow

Our views they differ, rarely we see eye to eye
Still I'll always be there, should you need to cry
But through heartaches and pain we share this love
A Father's Daughter, a truly special gift from above

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown

EagleOne~
No one tugs dad's heartstrings
quite the way a daughter does.
I think they are sent to show
dads the softer sides of love.

Works, huh ?
Beautiful and tender are your thoughts.

Justbleu.....It's kind of special for me, anything I write for my daughter always is. Thankyou.

Sunny1.....It was indeed written for her, and perhaps it is I who is the lucky one.   Thankyou.

Kit...Thankyou for your wonderful words, at least she will know how I feel.

Marge.....So true, they certainly have a special hold on us, and I think we love it that way.

JM...What can I say but thankyou for your kind words my fellow poet.   < !signature-->

Oh man, do I ever appreciate this poem. I know just exactly how you feel. I only have one child, a daughter, everything you are saying throughout the lines I can relate to.
The not seeing eye to eye etc. But I have to agree with you, the special magic of holding her for the first time.... can't be explained in this universe..... sincerely..........ethome

If that was for your daughter I'm sure she loves you just as much! That was a nice way to express your love through this poem
