The  Lingered  Wish
~~~
Ten  thousand  pounds  of  solid  rock
crash  down  against  the  floor
The  beaming  light  of  yesterday
will  never  gleam  ...  no  more
The  loss  of  several  happy  years
collapse  a  fragile  mind
A  heart  destroyed  before  the  dawn
leaves  bitter  tears  behind
~
Ten  thousand  dreams  of  days  to  come
just  dust  clouds  in  the  rain
All  scattered  o'er  the  sea  of  tears
where  hopes  are  cast  in  vain
The  treasured  sights  together  sought
forsaken ...  waste  away
Regardless  of  the  lingered  wish
That  quickly  fades  to  gray
~
Ten  thousand  blissful  days  engram
are  lost  for  evermore
The  spark  of  love  gives  way  to  black
and  seals  the  heavy  door
Emotion  froze  to  deathly  state
evades  an  approaching  day
But  a  heart  encased  in  solid  stone
never  bleeds  again  ...  they  say
~~~

Hi Rex,

Ten  thousand  dreams  of  days  to  come
just  dust  clouds  in  the  rain
All  scattered  o'er  the  sea  of  tears
where  hopes  are  cast  in  vain
The  treasured  sights  together  sought

Some times I wish that I had a heart of stone so the pain would go away, but that would make me something I detest.
A keep sake of mine this will be, Thank you for putting it so perfectly.

Love, Cerenity

Rex; You have profoundly expressed the horror
of a lost love and a broken heart. It is necessary for the heart to retreat, that it may heal and know love again. Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Simply beautiful Rex!  The flow, the sentiments, the little tug of my heart when reading these words ... just wonderful!

Best wishes,
/Kit

(PS ... now what were the chances of that ... 10:11am and we're both responding to each others poems at the same time!)

Rex this is so sad, and so true. Take heart it's true that's what is lost cannot return, but you never know what might be behind the next smile. Beautifully written as always. As an apprentice I can only stand and stare amazed.

Rex~
Such a sad piece but one I think we can all relate to. Even after many years the heartache still appears every now and again and the memories flood back.
Hearts slowly heal but are forever fragile.
Love to you Tracie~

Great writing Rex, truly powerful language.
It's quite song like and lyrical. It comes right at you and hooks you right away. Love it man, love it!
