Repost

As I lay awake in bed
The silence of the night
only broken
by the sound of a distant trains' whistle.
That same sound
comforting, yet haunting.
Like your memory.
Close, yet far from view.
I hold you close
in thought and memory.
As I clasp my hands in prayer
around my pillow.
Wishing for you a safe tomorrow.
The train's whistle
drifts off into the distance,
As your memory fades from view,
and I drift off into sleep...
