I am sorry to vent out like this, but what else can I do but shed tears when a tragedy strikes my own countrymen, my kin...

Please bear with me, I simply had to do this...
--------------

Excerpts from the Times Of India News Report
MUMBAI: It was a deluge not seen in many years - not just in Maharashtra which has been reeling under it since Wednesday, but also in Gujarat which was hit by a heavy, incessant downpour on Thursday. If it was Mumbai that was battered by death and chaos on one day, the next day it was Ahmedabad's turn to feel the fury of rain.

Raining Blood

Havoc wreaked its terror inside
Forces of nature had aligned
Against Life, in one deathly tide
In sorrow victims sadly reside.

In Heaven they lived until yesterday
Monsoon, they'd enjoyed each day
They hate it today, despise the rain.
'Tis living Hell now, flooded by pain.

A landslide papers say, just one,
A slum colony devastated, gone
Killing eighty, maybe even more,
Bodies buried by mud to the core.

What reason lies there to seek?
Is this just a one-time freak?
Nature proves us small to be
A deluge of hopes is all I see.

It rained blood instead of holy water,
From dragon belly, an exposed crater,
Thunderous clouds burst open with fire,
Taking lives, killing many hopes' desires.

And here I stand hopelessly helpless
Faraway from the now turned homeless
A long distance away from the tragic scene
Alas! If I only could be there to calm my kin!

--- shedding tears here, feeling helpless can't even offer solace to distraught families ---

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee,
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;

Sudhir this is so sad to read about this tragedy affecting your countrymen.
I understand the desires in your heart to be there and to comfort the families...

Sudhir,

How tragic ... My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to you and your countrymen ... I will think long and hard over the deeply heartfelt piece you have composed in memorium ... Peace be with you and yours ... (You certainly have no reason to apologize for writing so beautifully in the face of tragedy) ...< !signature-->

For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive.

Sudhir- To start with MA was right; you have no cause to be sorry when you write from your heart and to vent is why we are all here anyway.  I am sorry for the situation you face and my prayers have already been sent for you and they will continue to be.  I know you wish you could do something to help and I wish I knew how to help you deal with this.  Try to keep the chin up my friend and my prayers and love to you and those you hold so dear.

Karilea,
Thanks a great lot...

Though none of the departed or injured are my relatives, I feel they are all my kin... and I grieve for each of their souls...

I hope the families recover from the tragedy with courage...

Sudhir, do not apologise. I was shocked when I saw the news but the pictures fade and the news footage is filed safely away with all the other noise. We so easily forget, we so want to forget and the impact fades. At least it did for me, your poem has made those images surface again and made me think about the whole incident from the elements of total poverty to the tragic deaths of so many people. I feel for them but I hate that I am also powerless to help. Atleast I wouldn't so quickly file and box the event thanks to your poem. A every powerful poem my friend. No apologises needed.

My heart goes out to you Sudhir.  It is a terrible tragedy and you have wrote a poem from your heart.  Even though it is sad I am glad I read this poem and you should know that others shed tears as you do knowing that there is nothing that you can do.

Dear Sudhir--I read of this terrible incident and could hardly understand the horror that it was and is still...my heart is so sad for them and I understand how you must feel.  Your poem is full of your loving heart and caring ways...and this is a good thing for you to do.

Sudhir,
This poem as well as many of your other works so blatantly exposes your love and compassion for your fellow man, and your sorrow becomes one with the reader, because your poetry is your heart. You are a very talented writer, both in prose and poetry, and express so well the emotions of an event , so that we are all now part of the trsgedy. My heart goes out to you and the people of the region that was devastated, and I know if you could, you would be right in the middle of it, consoling and aiding victims. And incidentally, you do have a knack for counseling and consoling. You have an extraordinary spirit, Sudhir.
Your friend in poetry

My dear Sudhir, I can see how one with such a love for humanity and life as you could be so moved by such a senseless tragedy. It has always happened, though, and always will and normally it is the poorest that suffer. My condolences to you people and your beautiful country.....

Sudhir...Believe me,I know what you're feeling.I often wonder though....when man has enough to bear with natural disasters sent by God,why does he create disasters of his own.Why do we have to fight?

Best wishes

Sudhir,

News seems to be just commentary until we can associate something personal with the tragedy.  I have a friend who brought the reality of the earthquake in Turkey to me and now you have made me realize the true impact of this disaster.
My heart and my hopes go out to all of those affected.  My prayers, to you and yours...

Be well,

Trew.

Trew,
You are so right... the news is already outdated for the papers... another tragedy is found to take up the newspaper's space... This is what happens on such a regular basis... and this is the saddest part...

Thanks for your prayers and your thoughts...

sudhir
