The Maritimes

the road trails behind
wooden covered bridges here
people of the earth

blink and you wont see
postcard towns of yesteryear
country girls in jeans

back roads chase the stream
slat board houses painted green
small town boys with dreams

farms with cows in grass
corn and spiral hay to see
green acreas..believe

salt water towns today
the fish plant long ago gone
greed killed the fish stock

Scottish and Irish
French and English all Celtic
the past still sings here.

Well thank you ladies....

I just arrived in Nova Scotia late last night and i'm connect in Halifax....

Something about this province, its strong Celtic roots and history of pirate adventures lures me here often.
A city filled with slatboard housing a holdover from war times still people of the sea.
They travel the streets in small trucks with giant ice boxes selling fresh mackeral fish and mussels and other oddities.
I'm off to find some sea food and a beer...

Talk to you all soon.

Hey!  Parker - yanno, you make it look like writing Haikus is easy - I struggle to write even a single verse, while you write a whole poem, with each verse better than anything I've ever tried.  I really enjoy this poem - it gives me hope.

Well john, they seem easy, I can count to 5 and 7 and you don't really have to worry about a second verse.
Thank you

Marina, everything is great....thanks

Corinne, its a place of wonders, and the past is thick and living.

So glad to see your postcards, what wonderful vistas they project...

Sunshine, the east coast is very inspirational and can so easily bring you back to the earth. Thanks for replying.
