How do I say I'm sorry..then exit out the door?
How do I look you in the eye..and lie to you
                   once more?
How do I hold you to me when my mind's on
               something new?
How do I do what my heart says I must do?

I know that you can feel it and we've both been
                  here before.....
  There's a wall we've built between us
and it doesn't seem to have a door.....
After all these years together, you know I
               want to be your friend....
I don't need to make your heart break,
it just takes too long to mend.....

I'm afraid to say goodbye to you...
I'm afraid to turn and run...
You're guessing that I've lied to you,
and you're not the only one......
If I tell you how I'm feeling,
will it hurt you any less?
Should I shout it to the ceiling?
or should I simply let you guess?

It happened when I wasn't looking....
This old heart unlocked the door....
I didn't see the harm in just a friend,
       but he's becoming something more....
I haven't been untrue to you and I stay right
             here at home....
But you don't seem to understand
how very much I've been alone.....

  I don't want forgiveness-I haven't done you any
                    wrong....
and this won't hurt you any less when I put it
                   in a poem....
I didn't know my heart would open up for
                    someone new....
But he had the key, and he turned the lock,
and his love just slipped right
                     through.......

So, how do I say I'm sorry?
      How do I say goodbye?
      How do I not remember...
the pain there in your eyes?
How do I keep on walking....
             and never turn around?
How do I forget that my love just
                  let you down?

Paint your words upon the eager waiting canvas of my heart.....~Sunny1~

This one hurts to read.
I know his heart is bound to bleed.

Sometimes doors close and we don't even hear them because the sound of the door opening is so loud...Enjoyed your poem!

Sunny1,
This writing is so very touching, as it does touch my heart. Don't ever stop the words from flowing as you do. You certainly have a gift.
