I included a red carnation in this poem because that is my Mom's favourite flower, and I think that she is more beautiful than any flower in this world.  I'm sure that most of you already know that I adore my Mom, because I have posted many poems dedicated to her in open poetry

~REST, MOTHER~

Rest your eyes,
sweet Mother
and drift to dreams so calming,
let not the tears fall from your gentle hazel eyes,
nor the dryness of hopelessness
steal your passion for life away,
let my heart take away your sorrow and bear it's chains for you,
allow me to digest your pain
as I breathe life into your shattered dreams,
bringing your soul happiness,
while it skips upon clouds of soft peace,
as you become that beautiful, vibrant red carnation
once more,
you have taken care of me for all these years,
now, rest your weary head upon my shoulder,
sweet Mother of my heart,
and let me take care of you

Melissa~
Such a lovely 'bouquet' of verse for your mother.
What a sweetheart you are.

Aw, Melissa, in this crazy world filled with uncaring children, it is so refreshing to find someone who has the courage to say "yes, she's my mother and I love her". Your feelings for your mother are like a breath of fresh air. Thank you.......

Melissa:  Your writing shines with the love you have for your mother. You have both been blessed to have eachother in your lives. You feel blessed to have her as your mom but she is equally blessed to have you as her daughter. This is very beautiful.

Speaking as a parent myself;  I know that your words and your love for your mother mean the world to her.  Your love I am sure does breathe new life into her shattered dreams and replaces them with the knowledge that she has brought into this world a caring and beautiful soul.  Take care my dear.

What a beautiful tribute to your mother, or any mother for that matter.  A carnation, a red one at that, is so beautiful to display as a mother's love.
