Brotherhood is not men wanting to hold each other's hand,
It is the burning passion that wants what the other has.
We stand alone, we stand apart, we do not ask assistance,
We prefer to fail on our own, unlike our softer sisters.

Brotherhood is a strange mix of friends and foes alike,
We ogle all the women, then get into ferocious fights
Over who was watching who's behind when she walked on by,
Just because she's not our gal but the other guy's.

Brotherhood is necessary if we want to come safely through
All of the manhood things that we're required to do.
Like Lamaze classes and birthing rooms with angry screaming women,
(Although a well-timed fainting spell is always kindly given!)

Brotherhood is looked on dimly by our lovely but stern wives,
Because they think that all we do is drink beer and tell big lies.
But we always tell the truth, and help the story for our brothers,
By embellishing it with hyperbole, and covering for each other.

Brotherhood is sisterhood without all the weepy stuff,
Like sharing relationship secrets and talking when its tough.
Its more like punching a shoulder hard and taking it the same,
And only calling each other to talk about the football game.

Brotherhood is all we know, because its all we want to know,
We don't care what the other's spouse said, or where she's going to go.
We only talk about how tough we are, or how tough we're going to be
And, Oh My Gawd, don't let me get caught writing this poetry.

Brotherhood is like a pack of baying, howling hounds,
On the loose for a good time wherever it is found.
We stick together through stormy weather and in bright sunshine,
‘Cuz we must stick together or the women will eat us alive.

OH! THIS IS GOOD!!!!!!!
ROTFLMAO also!!

Ok! So you said that women are not allowed to read this. Hey! It's in my nature not to always follow the rules and being a very curious type, I just had to take a peak. What can I say, I get to have a little more fun that way.     In this case not following the rules was a good judgement call!!

WHAT A GREAT PEICE!!  I LOVED IT!

PS. Make sure that you have left no traces that you have written this. The last thing you want is your buddies finding out.Sshhhh!! Burn the evidence. LMAO!

LngJhnAg~
This is hilarious -- but I must say -- so very, very true!  I can't stop laughing, but I have to tell you that I know exactly what you meant when you said this:

We only talk about how tough we are, or how tough we're going to be
And, Oh My Gawd, don't let me get caught writing this poetry.

We do have to be a bit sneaky with this, don't we?  Seems like the ladies appreciate it much more than the other members of our brotherhood do!  (And we don't talk about it!)

Hang in there, bud!

I just had to come back here.
First of all I was told not to. Second of all it's a guys club and hey! I'm gonna peak once in a while.LOL
Third being that I just came from Gemini's Sisterhood poem and saw your response to hers.
Hmmmmmmmm...I don't know about you but from where I'm sitting, the first two responses to your brotherhood poem were women not men so does that mean we make better brothers hmmmmmm?   hehehe LMAO!!

Ahh, LongJohn,
me thinks male poets here are a secret blend,
a bit of magic dust only heaven can send,
therein lies a bit of sensitiviy,
amidst all the macho stuff, some creativity.

So put on this big tough front,
we don't buy it for a minute,
but your poetry we love
and of men, we're glad you're in it.

*ahem* (making my voice lower)

This is Bob deVine. I would have said I like the poem you wrote brother LngJhn, but since you didn't want me to read it, I couldn't tell you how much I liked it. Being a guy and all, I figured I'd give you some moral support in case the women here decided to cry and need some hankies!

Mr. Soleil here, telling you, LJA, that they only reason you have readers here is because you keep telling us, 'er, THEM, not to come in...

y'know, that's sorta like being a little bit pregnant...or a little bit drunk...

Read? Read what? I didn't read anything...

Geez, ya know, all these years trying to figure this all out. And wham, completely understood in one poem! LOL

We do appreciate the poetic side more, so that's one plus for us

Of course, if you didn't want women to read this, you wouldn't have said in big bold type NO WOMEN ALLOWED. Oops, I let loose a secret of the brotherhood!

Maggie Blue - Of course you're a Lady!  Now, *SPANK SPANK* for coming in here against my (a MAN's) specific orders.  *psst, did you really like it???*

kat - Thanks for your "secret" advice - It never occurred to me to burn the evidence.  *Now, where's my matches?*  As for your comment about you being a better brother - of course you are - Now, since you make such a fine brother, lets take a shower together *heh heh heh - Long John, you devil, I think she's gonna fall for your ploy.  Quick, go get your Soap-On-A-Rope*

Terry - yeah - being a man is hell, ain't it?  We miss out on all those really neat feminine things they advertise on TV - erk

'Deer - Thanks for reminding me about that butt scratching thingie - I was five minutes overdue because I got caught up in rearranging other things - lol

Olias - yanno - the REAL manly thing to do is to laugh your head off WHILE kicking someone's butt - haven't you been watching Smackdown?

Holly - I think you mistated yourself when you said, "I'm a woman so I don't follow directions very well." - I think the operative word should be "WON'T" - lol.  But that's OK, cuz I'm a man and I have been properly conditioned by lil Lorelei - ha ha ha

Corinne - yanno, I wouldn't even write poetry if I thought only men were gonna read it - So, as long as you read what I write, rest assured I will continue to ply you with words and swoonie-type phrases

Sharon - I kinda thought you'd like that last line - I know from first-hand experience what being eaten alive is like, as my protective brothers have not been able to save me from lil hungry Lorelei.  I have little doubt about your "appetite" too - lol  *crunch crunch*

Sunny - ahem - you know about that little bit drunk ergo little bit pregnant thingie, eh?  Naturally, I assumed all the women in the Forums were respectful of my wishes and obedient to my commands.  Imagine my shock to learn otherwise!  hmmmppph, our society is going down the tubes *grin*

Sy - There you go with those inferences to cats again!  Thanks for the encouragement.

lil White Dove - I'm glad I was able to illumine for you the finer points of manlinees.  If you need additional "instruction", please let me know *veg*.  err, but don't tell Lorelei - OK?  (it has something to do with my last line in the poem)

Mike - yeah, ain;t I a devil in the way I control the things women do?  heh heh he - I learned a long time ago that if you want a woman to do something, tell her she can't.  They have NO respect for manly authority!  I wonder why?
