I never knew that love could be
Casting the heart out to the stormy sea.

Do I know you now, did I know you then?
I was the one who used to call you friend.

Something happened that fateful day.
My life came before me and then passed away.

And I alone am responsible for this action.
And the price is high for loves' passion.

Tell me God, tell me what to do.
I feel I'll spend the rest of my days lost in loving you.

For a married woman, can't you see
Cannot fall in love with a married man to this degree.

But, I fell in love with you every time you walked through that door.
Your eyes, your smile, your voice, I wanted more.

You didn't know, you couldn't see,
My feelings for you burning intensely.

I invited you over to my home.
Told you I loved you and that I'd be alone.

After I told you and saw the horror on your face.
There was no way I could take back what I said or erase.

And the irreparable damage was done then
When you ask and expect more than what can be given from a friend.

Sexual harrassment is a label for which you knew.
It was easier to call me this than to admit I'd fallen in love with you.

There was a stalemate in life that day.
as I left in love with you, You just wanting me to go away.

His stories were as endless as the sea.
And they did so captivate me.

And my foolish heart in yearning to be free
Hurting a friend became my responsiblilty.

Saying I'm sorry could never take away.
The pain in his heart I caused him that day.

Why did my loves path choose this course?
Why do I hurt with such a force?

There is no part of my tomorrow.
That is not consumed with some part of sorrow.

I raped a friend with words of lust.
And at once a cherished friendship had turned to dust.

And I love you now as I loved you then.
But, now all I can do is pray "God keep you safe, my friend".

Gemini~
I can tell that this is from deep in your heart ... so sad a song it sings.

I believe your own words say it best -

'When you ask and expect more than what can be given from a friend.'

*Hugs* dear lady -
you've already paid too high a price.
Let it go, learn from it
and forgive yourself.

Gemini, there is a such a wide range of emotions in this writing including love, longing, regret, shame...and presented with such sincerity that it all translates into a very good poem.

Thank you Marge, Now for the letting go and forgiving myself, this requires time, lots of time...the healing is slow and there are days of setbacks.  I appreciate your caring comments.
