In the winds of Cherokee song

0 posted 2000-07-05 02:36 AM

Heart

Locked in a chamber
tucked safely from view
Off in a corner
lying weary and cold
Shattered and scared
pieces all askew
Searching for purpose
from stories untold

Seeking a shelter
to start a life fresh
An abundance of love
yearning to give
Searching for a partner
in which to mesh
Craving to breathe
a life it can live

Given over to you
to nurture and mend
From words of promise
filled with loving care
Out of the darkness
it now will ascend
Slow short gasping
as it reaches the air

It is all yours
with timid trust
Knowing the dangers
of unsheltered view
Beating once again
wiping of the dust
This heart lives on
thanks to you.

Mark Bohannan

For the one I so greatly trust!!!!!

WoW! masterpiece! My favorite lines....Given over to you
to nurture and mend
From words of promise
filled with loving care
Out of the darkness
it now will ascend
Slow short gasping
as it reaches the air

It is all yours
with timid trust
Knowing the dangers
of unsheltered view
Beating once again
wiping of the dust
This heart lives on
thanks to you.

Beautiful description of the heart!!! and a heart learning to love again at that!

'From words of promise
filled with loving care'

That's what it's all about.
Embrace the very essence of love
and trust in it to hold you tenderly.

beautiful Mark,
trust is always the hardest thing to
get back once we've been hurt..
many times our hearts mend faster than our trust.
this poem speaks to your desire to love again
and take the chance.
well written and expressed...

i like the "cryptic" style of it
take care

Mark,
This is splendid writing...

It is all yours
with timid trust
Knowing the dangers
of unsheltered view
Beating once again
wiping of the dust
This heart lives on
thanks to you

These lines are so well-rendered,and I like the adjective forms that you have... particularly timid trust ...

lovely!

regards, sudhir

I too went digging and found a gem......this
piece is.....I just don't have the words~
To find someone that opens a heart that has
been locked away so that it won't be hurt
again...a true angel.  Beautiful does not
even touch on this piece~
