State of constant confusion!

Questions Of The Heart

If only we'd met years ago
would  we have had a chance
to know love so deeply
no matter the circumstance
nothing would come between us?
No evidence of crime?
Would we know such completeness
even after all this time?

Would our lives be intermingled?
Or would we stumble in our haste?
Having a past to remember
or just a single taste,
of the love that once flourished
here among our dreams
Is it possible that a love so pure
is beyond reality?

Jeffrey, this is a bittersweet reflection weaved into rhyme of a once upon a time.  This poem is a gem.

Love that is so pure and so true can with stand anything that comes its way. I believe it is called unconditional love. That being said, this kind of love does have its boundaries and a heart can stand only so much pain. Loving unconditionally and letting yourself be played for a fool are two separate issues....ANYWAY...lol. I think I have strayed from my orginal train of thought on this piece.

What I meant to say is that I believe that kind of love can be a reality. Wonderful words and very well put together Mr. Carter.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

RH, I think we all ask this question at some point in life. Sometimes we get an answer, sometimes we don't. Thank you for your kind words.

Thank you all for always giving me your support. I feel as if I am growing in my writing a little more every day. Not only in my writing, but also in my outlook on life in general. You have all taught me so much about what lies inside my heart and soul. For that I could never repay you. I can only offer my sincerest thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Love to you all,

Jeffrey,

Great poem my friend.  The heart has many questions to ask.  Some things we will just never know though.  If we are meant to know, it will be revealed to us.  Love the thoughts though.  Great writing my friend!!

'Tis indeed a question to be pondered.  You did a nice job reflecting it.  I liked it very much.

Jeffrey...
those are very enduring questions you have proposed of our minds, our hearts... I do hope that a love such as that does indeed exist, and that we all get a chance to experience it in our time here...
Lovely poem   A beautiful read!

Hmmmm, AS I sit and read this, I wonder.
What would it have been like if I'd met "him" years earlier.
This is a piece that hit home with me!
Thanks for sharing it's wonder and beauty with us
