This is about a friend who passed away this morning.
We taught SCUBA together, but only after he had brought me from the ranks of novice to that of an instructor. He had waited for years for a liver translplant. Before his death he established a foundation within the firefighting community for education in Organ Donations. He passed away at today at 6:00 AM. He will be greatly missed.

Departed

Daring and boldness, of his life was required
Each day he gave to others, another small part.
Promises never broken, our trust he inspired,
Always thoughtful of others he led with his heart.
Rarely in life, do we have the pleasure,
To know such a man, ever mindful or others.
Even in passing, he leaves us this treasure,
Drawings from our lives, grants life to our brothers.

(an acrostic poem in honor of Samuel Morgan, my friend and mentor)

Prometheus~
A fitting tribute - friend for friend.
Condolences from this poetic community.
Would be a wonderful world if we all were Organ Donor participants.
Perhaps your tribute will turn on a friend to joining the Organ Donor program.

Prometheus,

Wonderful tribute to a special friend.  You and your friend's family are in my thoughts and prayers.  It is a shame that people die waiting for others to donate organs.  Nice poem.

nicely written tribute to your friend...i esp like the last two lines
Even in passing, he leaves us this treasure,
Drawings from our lives, grants life to our brothers

I hope you will soon be granted the serenity to come to terms with his death and carry on with life

Jamie* This is a beautiful tribute to your
friend, I can see through your words how much
you loved him.  I too have a dear friend
painfully awaiting a liver transplant, he is only 16 but has taught me so much about life
watching him fight for each day .  I have just begun obtaining information on organ donation and sharing that information with the people in our community...flyers, bumper stickers, pins, etc... You don't know how important it is until you watch someone you love wait. Your poetry has spoken to my
heart tonight...and I shall be resign from
my non tear status...for butterflies cry
rivers when their souls are touched.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute
with us, my condolences for your loss.

Jamie,

I sympathize with you my friend. For I know what it is like to lose a friend. No words I say could help you get through this part of your life, but I have learned over my years upon this earth that life does go on. Although you will never forget him the pain will ease more and more over time. My condolences to you and his family.

All my love,
Jeffrey

My arms reach out and cradle you within their fold as your friend and mentor departed and became an angel today. Blessed be Sam who left little seeds of miracles that one day will be life given to another. What a legacy that Sam, your friend and mentor, has planted. God bless Sam, his family and especially you Jamie, who loved and cared like a true friend, during this time of loss. Xtra hugss <**>

Jamie,
I offer you my most heart-felt sympathies...
Tragedy often strikes its deadly blow. But then it is upon us to be strong and to keep the memories alive. These memories will keep the departed souls alive in our hearts...

A lovely tribute, and a fitting one too...

regards,
Sudhir.

P.S. And rememeber these lines from a great poet...

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee,
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;

Thanks to each of you for the sympathy and the  condolensces. He was a blessing to all who knew him and left us a better world than when he arrived.
