The Barrington Mountain Fishermen

In memory of
William Thomas Meehan
&
Ronald John Meehan

The Barrington Mountain fishermen
They'd come up here every time they can
Every holiday and long weekend
How much they loved this mountain land

First came here toddler on father's knee
Deadly and dangerous saw it all first hand
Years gone by still much to see
Kept coming back to this mountain land

They would come to share the spirit
With wives and children of their own
The call of the mountain they'd all hear it
This land too, now also their home

And when they passed from this life on
We spoke of memories 'round the campfire ember
Of mountain men like Saltbush Bill and Cousin Ron
Thier lives and lessons I will always remember

Rugged men in a place of beauty and danger...loving just being there...where things are wild and free...An interesting, well done poem, Eagle One...if you knew these men, you were lucky, especially if they took you to this place.

Eagle*
A fitting tribute to two fine men, I can see
them growing with the land and following in
the footsteps of their own fathers.  I loved
the way this read, it gave the feeling that
I too was sitting at that campfire listening
to you tell the tale.  A wonderful job my
friend~

Martie...Yes I knew them well, my Father and my Cousin, both very special people. We spent many , many days surounded by the beauty of that place. I appreciate you taking the time to read and for your comments.

Janet Marie....A humble poet thanks you

Mike.....I'm glad you enjoyed.

Butterfly....As always I appreciate your comments, biased as they may be.   It is just an amazing feeling siting around the campfire up at the Tops, you would be a most welcome addition my friend.

So! Who saw the typo and was being to polite to mention it?.....lol.  I thank you all for your responses, this is a special piece for me. Your comments are truely appreciated.
