Morning

I sit before the mirror,
Dead eyes,
Morning shadow upon me,
Tousled and transfixed,
Beside me your bronze body in slumber,
Prostrate, inanimate, cold,
Sleep severed umbilicus,
Waiting for resurrection.

Waking you softly, I draw you close,
Your warm breath teasing,
Playfully blowing in my ear,
I pull away preoccupied with me….
Until your force pulls me back,
Running your fingers through my hair,
Body hot with anticipation.

Turning swiftly, I take you,
Together in mirrored mimicry,
Then sated, I cast you aside…
So you can sleep,
And I can return to my mask.

Olias

such descriptive imagery and unusual
vocabulary choices...
very cool and unique poem Olias ...
a strange mix of sensuality and at the same time frigidity...

Thank you everyone for your kind comments, I have a confession to make, I purposly tries to leave this piece open to as much interpretation as possible, but the inspiration was just the act of blow drying my hair. A kind of experiment in making the mundane exciting.

Read it thru twice-
Once before reading your reply
And once after!!
Amazing how easy it is to jump to the
wrong conclusion.
Great writing, Olias.

Love and hugs,
Lizzie
