Poet Tree

You have always been there for us, you provide sweet sustenance when we have none.
When from the heat we begin to whither, you can conceal us from the sun.
You reach your strong branches out to us, offering to pick us up when we are down.
When we find no beauty around us, your brilliant blooms can always be found.
You shelter us within the breadth of your canopy, providing shelter from life's storms.
When the frost-nipped winds of winter buffet us, you offer cuttings of yourself to keep us warm.
You are a tall and majestic beacon, pointing the way to safe haven for lost and lonely souls.
When heartache surrounds us, whispering leaves gently breathe upon us their consoles.
You stand strong and still before us, your many vivid colors don't always rhyme.
When we have need of an anchor old friend, we know your roots began with time.

Each poem I have read here helped to inspire and give life to this one. Thanks to all of you here at Passions.

don't forget, however, how the Sun helps all of us here to grow...

Wonderful piece!  Thank you!

Yes, I am here, but I am dead, not alive,
my body goes on, my spirit has died,
and I though alive, feel dead inside.

The tree is made up of all the poets..each one a branch, birthing a new leaf on the tree...and some fruit will be born to feed the hungry soul.. good poem!

Jamie,

Love the tree metaphor.  What a wonderful way to think of all of poets!!  This was great and you have my vote for sure!!

Wonderful metaphorical image.
We are all part of the tree of life.
Thank you for your insight.

Fellow Arborist;

Thanks to each of you for your comments and for your inspiration. I really felt inadequate to do justice to this endeavour, and really still do. The scope and breadth of poetry's influence on the human condition is mind staggering to me. Perhaps someone better prepared than I can expand upon this effort. Again, Thanks to all.

Thank You Brian. I am just so pleased everyone seemed to enjoy this poem.
I am not sure if the alternating first words constitute any recognized form of poetry or not,, It just felt melodic to me.
thanks again

The tree must have have roots and be nourished in order to grow and give life.  What joy that the nourishment comes in many forms as the roots dig deeper and deeper thus making the tree stronger and stronger. What a wonderful living tree of life. hugss <**>
