I dreamed I entered the Garden of Love
Surrounded by many flowers of beauty
Daisy,
          Iris,
               Violet,
                        and many others
They clamoured for my attention, for my love
To help nuture them, help them to grow

But there was only one flower I desired
The rarest of them all, tender and delicate
Petals,
        Thorns,
               Leaves,
                        sought by many
She was Rose, the flower of my heart
The one I had sought my whole life long

Fighting through the Forest of Weeds
I found her being choked by them
Struggling,
           Straining,
                     Reaching,
                              trying to live
Striking them away with the Blade of Life
I brought her back from the edge

And seeing her true beauty filling the Garden
I chose not to pick her from her place
But stayed as her Caretaker, her Keeper
Protecting her from that which would harm her
And helping her to grow to the fullest of her life

Wonderful...
Perhaps as a footnote to #4 or a reply to this posting you would be kind enough to list those various forms.

Hi Sven,

Sven~  Just a beautiful poem there, my friend.  Wonderful images.     I liked this form as well.  Great job.

I really like this one.  I like the form but, mostly I like your choose of words.

Hi again!

The word "allegory" comes from two Greek words: "allos" meaning "other" and "agoreuein" meaning "to speak".

An allegory is a story whose characters, things, and happenings have another meaning.  Allegories are written to explain ideas about good and evil, or about moral and religious principles.  (Well, this poem isn't about any of those!!  LOL)  What makes a piece of writing an allegory is that the characters actually BECOME what they stand for, and can have names like Ms. Love, or Mr. Peace, or Rose and Iris.

Hope this helps. . .
