He sleeps

His chest rises and falls in slow rhythm
With every breath he takes
I watch him smiling softly,
Peaceful dreams play across his face
As he sleeps.

My eyes dance over his body
Taking in every inch of his skin
I want to drown in his eyes
And lose myself in our loving once again—
But he sleeps.

I let my heart fall freely
And felt a love deeper than I ever dared
How is it that I sit here in awe
Amazed by the love we share
And he sleeps?

One more painful goodbye
As we go our separate ways
One last look over my shoulder
It's so hard to walk away
While he sleeps.

*Sigh*...
this is beautiful Tara,
gentle and tender ...
perfect.
take care, jm

you can say baby
baby can I hold you tonite
maybe if I said the right words
at the right time
you'd be mine
baby can I hold you tonite

PDV, yes, I think so too!

JM, thank you.  The passionate part of love is what makes our hearts thump wildly in our chests, but the softer, gentler, more tender side of it is what brings on those dreamy smiles, faraway looks in our eyes.

wonderfully romantic, very beautiful. delicate poem.

Tara...I have been married for 12 years and never felt the love that I sensed in reading your poem...you are an excellent poet and he is a lucky man to have you!

Love one another-let God do the worrying,
Rodney

Jeffrey, thanks for the read.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Marge, "sighs"?  I think I've done everything but shout from rooftops.

Rodney, everyone should feel love like this!  It's just too good not to.

Tara,

Every time I read this poem, I smile from ear to ear as I feel the blush rise on my cheeks. Thank you so much for sharing your heart and soul with me. And to everyone who has read and responded to her beautiful words, I say - Believe in love and when you find it, embrace it with every part of your being.
