TERRA INCOGNIZANT

You would think by now, I would know my way around,
I shouldn't miss you so badly, I should be on familiar ground.
How many more lonely years, must meander by,
until I learn the lesson, it does no good to cry.
What manner of iron will, must some people possess,
to be always looking forward, to never accept regress.
Perhaps if I was willing, to let someone take me by the hand,
they could show me a happy place, in this unfamiliar land.
Perhaps I'm only homesick, for all the joys that once were mine,
I must accept that they and you, belong to another place and time.
But I know that deep within my heart, there's a place where only you reside,
and when the pain of lonliness comes, it knows that is where I hide.
So if sometimes it seems to you, I'm clinging to the past,
it's mostly because I can't yet accept, that our love didn't last.
No matter how hard I try, I've yet to get over you,
for the part of me that's still alive, believes you love me too.
Maybe there will come a day, when that part will finally die,
and feeling strong with a  heart reborn, a new love I will finally try.
And what a splendid day that will be, when I awaken to discover,
I'm happily learning a great new land, with a great new friend and lover.

Thank You Jeffrey, There were a lot of tears shed on the paper on which that one was written.

some people leave deeper imprints on our hearts than others...
some things take more time to get over...
again I will say...you write with much depth
of your emotions...
its obvious this one cuts deep.
well written and expressed

WOW, this is fantastic!!

Yes, I am here, but I am dead, not alive,
my body goes on, my spirit has died,
and I though alive, feel dead inside.

Liked the last two lines the most...cause when we finally let go is when we finally go on....I hope...cause thats what I'm doing right now...moving on.   The title was way cool.   James

Seems we walk the same paths ...as most do
now and then, a well worn path with thorny
roses that snag you along the way.  How nice
it would be to skip the walk and be at the
end...a nice field with wild flowers and a
soft breeze of beautiful thoughts. Very well
written~

H.Arlequin, Thank you very much. And, kutgw?

To the Butterfly to whom I shall make it a personal goal to cry: As tempting as it would be to skip the hardships on life's journeys, we would miss some really nice things along the way. And after all, the journey is what makes up life, not the destination.
Thank You for the warm flowery breeze!

Ah the light of the tunnel has flickered. You see love does not die, but multiplies. Bask in the love that once was and will always be. You were blessed. Take the hand and journey onto your new land. Hugss <**>

Prometheus~

How wearied our paths can sometimes be ...
but, as you point out ....

'the journey is what makes up life, not the destination.'

We pause - we recall ...
the tears come and dilute the sorrow of the loss ...
we move on ... always mindful of where we've been.

Glad you felt you could share the emotion.
