THE GIFT

A silhouette by candlelight
Amid the sweet essence of night,
She glides across the eyes, a beam
Of elegance ‘twixt life and dream.

An angel's gift, a soft-winged mist,
Of temperance - of passions kissed,
And all in life I so adore,
I've only dreamt - ne'er held before.

Stood now, next me, in pure delight
Of having all, once wrong, made right.
By sweet sung verses all made calm,
Finger to finger, palm to palm.

The simple pleasure of a touch,
(Of a wanting), needed so much.
And all common beauty unseen,
Veiled here in pools of gray and green.

In shades of longing and laughter,
Subtle whispers of hereafter
Hold me now, (all love adorning),
Hold me forever by morning.

Awakening a blissful dawn
Of life and dream together, drawn;
All I ne'er believed could come true,
Been granted me in loving you.

Loving another opens up new worlds, worlds that could never be explored if it weren't for the one you love. This is a beautiful poem. Stunningly beautiful.

Love and hugs,

I have read the entire poem several times, and still I am captured by the first reading of this stanza. It gave me chills -- what a powerfully sensual image!  You know, even though I wake up to you every morning, Michael, you still manage to amaze me every day ...

Absolutely beautiful, love ... and so glad to see you writing again, especially since I am the one who distracted you from it in the first place!

Hugs 'n smooches,

ESP, New worlds indeed - worlds I never dreamt of emotionally.  Admitedly, I don't honestly think I even come close to describing the heights of emotion I have experienced in the past month.  Sure enjoy trying, even so.

brian, glad you enjoyed.

Janet, all is well - no worries, k?  Just been very busy with the new job and well, just being in love.

PdV, Well, I have been reviewing some of my works to try to come up with something to submit for the book - will be soon I am sure - Jeeze, I was not aware I had written so much... LOL

Sudhir, It would seem love is the best possible way to bring any expressions together methinks...

Kess, The image of the first stanza was delivered to me personally by you, my dear.  I cannot pretend my words could near portray the beauty and emotion felt that moment.
Ditto on the "amazed" part, too.  Every morning when I wake up with you next to me, (still pondering the extenuations of this dream we seem to be sharing), without question I thank God for this remarkable gift He has given us.  Oh, and btw, you may distract me anytime... hehehe!

Amy, so glad to bring you a smile.  I cannot express the extent of joy I have come into this past month.  Such that I never thought possible.  And it only adds to my smiles when I think back to all the times I was down and I know people like you were always wishing happiness for me.  I truly know what that is now.  TY

Marge, well I don't know if "back" among the living is an appropriate statement.  I cannot truly ever remember being this "alive" before.  What a wonderful feeling it is though...

Jeffrey, Indeed - you knew - although I never truly did.  Inspiration, indeed.

Thank you all for the kind replies,

Michael

for M, and K,

~Taking You Home~
Don Henley

I had a good life

Before you came

I had my friends and my freedom

I had my name

Still there was sorrow and emptiness

’Til you made me glad

Oh, in this love I found strength I never knew I had

And this love

Is like nothing I have ever known

Take my hand, love

I’m taking you home

I’m taking you home

There were days, lonely days

When the world wouldn’t throw me a crumb

But I kept on believing

That this day would come

And this love

Is like nothing I have ever known

Take my hand, love

I’m taking you home

I’m taking you—home

Where we can be with the ones who really care

Home, where we can grow together

Keep you in my heart forever

And this love

Is like nothing I have ever known

Take my hand, love

I’m taking you home

Taking you home

And this love

Is like nothing I have ever known

Take my hand, love

I’m taking you home

I’m taking you home

Ah Michael, welcome back my friend...it has been too, too long that Sunshine has seen such that she would weep with joy...and the weeping will cause Rainbows...you bring such tenderness and joy to us with this very piece...
