          Meaning

At birth the light shone on our worlds
and for a moment there was hope
forgive us our trespassses, the words
so in this chaos, lord we may cope

For the sins in the minds of men
beelzebub is no more shaming
the monster is alive now as it was then
a legacy of mankinds making

Picture a nuclear cloud and a starving child
the images of all our faliures
are reminders that man is still wild
a beast despite his postures

And what if one a day the strife ceased
what would be our inspiration ?
many would bless the peace at least
with prayers for the human nation

Our troubles having not yet ceased
while the world continues spining
poverty, disease and greed
would certainly need curtailing

Maybe it is courageous just to be alive
in these uknown times, forever changing
but if hearts burn, so spirits will strive
for a  destiny thats filled with  meaning.

Wonderful Alexander!  I don't believe I've said hello as yet ... "Welcome to Passions"! This is a very thought-provoking verse.  I was particularly moved by the line:

"Maybe it is courageous just to be alive"

So true, so true ... well done!

Best wishes,
/Kit

welcome to Passions Alex. Yes there is a lot of pain in the world, it is not the glorious garden it once was.  really enjoyed your poem.

A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
