Earth 3rd Rock from the sun!!

Sentiments of another time
in this shoe box they all hide
up on a shelf in my closet high
i take them down and look inside
the napkin from my first prom
the angels wings from ex-boyfriend Tom
the notebook i shared with all my friends
we would pass it in the hall
we'd write notes of heartfelt things
of how the knife of love can sting
we'd giggle at the boys
on the football team
hoping they would notice
how they made our eyes gleam,
we were forever young
nothing else mattered
to us we knew our lives
could never be shattered
grown now we've all moved on
the days of yesteryear are now gone
but I have my little shoe box
of all my memories
memeories that always
bring happy tears to my eyes....

This is lovely JulieAnn!  You brought back all sorts of happy memories for me ... I'm finding I tend to reminisce a fair bit lately, and wish so much I'd kept "my" shoebox of sweet reminders ... guess the hazy memories will simply have to do for me. Beautiful, sentimental poem ... Well done!

Best wishes and inspiration

Julie, my shoe book is more in my mind than possessions but it is nice to dig it out every now and again to relive the past briefly. a wonderful poem, really enjoyed reading.

we knew our lives
could never be shattered
grown now we've all moved on
the days of yesteryear are now gone
but I have my little shoe box
of all my memories
memeories that always
bring happy tears to my eyes....

Beautiful poem!!!!  Now you got me reflecting and in my case the shoe box is a metal tin buried in the Mojave desert four states away since 1976.  Maybe I need to take a trip.

JA..I love this sweet sentimental poem...
I too have one of these boxes...
and its been awhile since i got it out...
thanks for the reminder...
maybe I'll find it this weekend.

"we were forever young
nothing else mattered
to us we knew our lives
could never be shattered
grown now we've all moved on
the days of yesteryear are now gone"
