Tonight, I called it off. No more flowers in thoughts of her. No more answering the phone, checking the mail, Wondering if she remembered. No, No more. Tonight, I called it off. It's easier than you think. Just pick up the phone, Lay down love's tarnished coins: Plink plink-plink plink-plink. Tonight, I called it off. It was something that had to be done. A sad moment, solemn as psalm, But also, I know, a wise one. (11:38 p.m., June 22, 2000. goodbye, heidi. it was a great ride.) |

Mike, I know with your sweet heart there will be other loves...other goodbyes...but none are ever as hard as the immediate now. A poem rich with feeling and finality. |

Oh, I can relate to this one so well. It hurts so much when you have to finally admit to yourself that it's over...and most likely has been for quite some time. It takes a lot of courage to say enough is enough and just walk away. And though there is sadness, it is also like a weight has been lifted. Anyway, I'm rambling. What I meant to say, was I really enjoyed this piece. --You can either take me as I am...or you can watch me as I go.-- |
