I section the grapefruit freeing the juicy morsels from entangling webs not that anyone feels like eating grapefruit at night but they had already sat for more than a week and I really hated to see them waste busy hands accompany eyes unseeing ears neglect questions my mind doesn't hear the emotions going round and round and up and down hate is now up and tears fall down next circle it makes it’s the other way round self pity pulls a carriage too small to be any good and one stands backwards cause no one tells it what to do loneliness wears no saddle and there’s an angry one with wild crazy eyes a sexy stallion raises up on two tempting passions permission who are these creatures seeking control of me? I bargain with the caretaker to have pity on me I offer a hug of my pillow and a good nights sleep a decadent sundae guilt free a run in the dark tensed muscles to release a drive in my car far away from here... the juice drips freely as the bowl starts to fill no golden ring tonight I fear my eyes red still witness lack of sleep ice cream and grapefruit? makes shudders through me muscles remain tight in stress' tight grip car keys sit unmoved just within reach tonight even the stallion has lost his appeal as every time he comes round he only leaves me again so I pick another grapefruit and start to peel... there's way too many really fabulous lines in here to reference them... this is a very powerful piece... from a very powerful poet i'm sectioning my own grapefruits and trying to mix them with ice cream, too... so... i know exactly what you mean... (*g... if that makes sense) great writing, k |
