Mighty Flickering Fight

Have you ever picked up a feather
one of those dark crow feathers
of rough and tortured quill
fallen fallen into the dusty driveway

and thought of the cry of the crow
like laughter
that woke you on a Sunday morning
just as the sun snatched the last
fragment of night and opened the trees

then from the window’s captured view

appeared the flighty fast finch
and its exuberant dance
around the head of the crow
like a crown of thorns

this small bird seems the heart
of what is brave
for I see the power of love
is as churning wings

to show me how to gage my thunder
such is what I would be
for this mighty flickering fight
fills my morning in awe.

Beautiful Martie, with such strong imagery...perfection indeed.

Good Poem you seem to find a lot meaning by
observing small things from the imagery you build. It suggests an inner silence you posses good meditative poem

I live a few miles from the crow capital of Kansas.... they used to roost in the catalpa groves...  so if you need a feather... let me know...
enjoyed the poem... such a talent you possess...

Martie,

Great poem!!  Love your imagery with the crow.  This was beautiful.
