Purgatorial Incarceration

***Noticing that there have been a lot of time related poems popping up, I didn't think it bad timing to bring this back up!

Forces

Through the persistent hand of time,
We are carried along by fate.
Ever are we bound by chaos,
And shackled just so to order.
Yet both are linked unto nature,
The finality being death.

Yet who can stay the touch of death?
Who can halt the ticking of time?
Can oppose the call of nature?
Bypass the fickle plan of fate?
For without the law of order,
All degenerates to chaos.

So what is to fear from chaos,
When the entropy of each death,
Contributes to laws of order,
And release the strictures of time,
Rendering meaningless to fate,
That which belongs first to nature?

All, is the domain of nature,
Even the burden of chaos.
And by plucking the strings of fate,
Each path leads to the gates of death.
Such will be ‘til the end of time,
Proscribed by the bane of order.

Nothing is immune to order,
Except that which is in nature,
Or can be traveling in time,
And is not seduced by chaos.
Or the sweet siren song of death,
Or haunted by the pull of fate.

For that is the end-game of fate,
To place all back into order,
Propelling each and every death,
Back into the arms of nature,
To feed the hunger of chaos,
Choking it with spadefuls of time.

Sheltered in the womb of nature,
Safe from the anger of chaos,
We can release the hand of time.

We are all definetely affected by each and everyone of those things. Great work in your presentation of how they all affect is in different ORDER and will until the final sleep in DEATH so I guess we continue to learn from the unforseen CHAOS that comes from the distinct forms of NATURE that develop over TIME. Very Well Done!

S - I - G - H ....

Can someone PLEASE pry the Crayolas out of little Christopher's hand ...?  Chris -- there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for those end-words to be in technicolor -- if there were any interior decorators reading this one, rest assured you gave them a full-blown heart attack ...

Other than that, my friend, you almost have my complete approval on this one -- LOL -- I of all people should know that a sestina can be a right pain in the rear to complete -- which is prolly why you didn't complete it, right?  (You DID realize that ALL of your end-words are supposed to appear in the finishing tercet, with words 1,3 & 5 being incorporated into the lines and 2,4 & 6 at the ends, right...?  Yes?  I thought so ... hehehe)  Other than that, well done -- just QUIT with the tacky colors, willya...?  (please?)

Missed this...

Now - the call of nature you say? Yeah...that can be hard to oppose can't it...

'Ever are we bound by chaos,
And shackled just so to order.'

And therein lies a balance...

Hold on, hold on...

'Nothing is immune to order,
Except that which is in nature'

versus:

'All, is the domain of nature'

hmmmm???

Ohhhh....tricky, tricky...me like. An intricate offering that gets your thinking cap on...

'We can release the hand of time.'

But I don't agree with that...not quite...

K

OK Christopher ... now without sounding a little too awestruck ... might I say your succession of thoughts here was magnificent! I am simply lost in amazement at your talent displayed within this incredible piece! Wow!

Best wishes,
