As dusk began it’s graceful fall,
A sunset with radiant beams,
Settled over the mountainside;
An image seen only in dreams.
The moon snuck into the picture,
Causing shadows to dance on the ground,
One by one the stars appeared,
Stepping in without making a sound.
Cattails now swaying gently,
Keeping time to music unheard.
Moved by delicate breezes,
As soft as the most loving word.
In the distance the song of crickets,
Bringing melodies to the night,
Bullfrogs adding their rhythm,
Prompted fireflies to show their delight,
Ducks, their heads now hidden,
Slept through this magnificent show,
Slumbering soundly behind the reeds,
Beneath the moon’s velvet glow.
This bog in the evening’s silhouette,
A delicate serenade,
With nature performing nightly,
In this most enchanting glade.

Oh, this is very, very good, and I think you should go back and mark it for possible publication in Voices on the Web!  Let me know if you do, for I will surely vote for it!

dear Bonnie; You took me away again to your enchanting place that these lovely words describe. Definitely one for the book!
