I own a castle in faraway lands
I dwell with my lady most fair
We have a love that poets dream of
One heart and one soul do we share

A fine summer morn and game's afoot
So my band takes to hunting all day
Unbeknownst my castle attacked
My fair lady was taken away

We tracked them north, the evil men
We rode right into dawn's light
A ramshackle castle in the valley below
We dismount to prepare for the fight

My loyal men all gathered around
The situation we quickly assessed
Our plans now made we mount back up
And pray that our efforts be blessed

We charge towards the postern gate
As quarrels rain down from above
In we burst and a melee ensues
I dismount to seek out my love

A parry, a stroke as death I deal
To the guard who was barring my way
I climb up the stairs and into a hall
Where two more guards must I slay

Checking each door I move down the hall
I can feel her, I know she's nearby
Then a locked door, 'My lady', I call
'My sweet knight', I hear her reply

I shatter the door, my lady is there
Straight into my arms does she run
The sounds of battle move closer now
I found her but freedom's not won

Into the hall, a guardman's sword
I strike as he runs me right through
A mortal wound taken 'tis clear to me
My lady weeps, as she knows it too

A band of my men approach us then
Being led by my dearest of friends
"Take her my friend, care for her.
Her honor with your life defend"

One last time I gaze deep in her eyes
In all the world no love was more true
Weakly I smile and with my last breath
Say "My lady, my life is for you..."

swords instead of our poets pens

Sir Steve, this fair maiden loved your poem, your imagination, Enjoyed it so much!
Oh what fair lady would not love these words so devotedly spoken from thy heart......

One last time I gaze deep in her eyes
In all the world no love was more true
Weakly I smile and with my last breath
Say 'My lady, my life is for you...'
