DRUGS AND DEATH

Drugs are usually brought from friends and dealers in night clubs,
but sometimes even on the street or in the local pubs,
deaths from falls are often due to alcohol misuse,
drownings and suicides are from other drug abuse,
an hour after taking LSD, the trip begins,
taking drugs brings a multitude of sins,
some sniffers put their heads inside plastic bags,
and occasionally combine sniffing with smoking fags,
drugs can seriously damage your health in both the long and short term,
if you suspect your child does drugs you have to be caring but firm,
one of the risks of taking a drug is you could have an extreme reaction,
the appeal of taking drugs is the danger and satisfaction,
some sins to spot drug taking are sudden changes in mood,
or aggressiveness being violent and being very rude,
some drugs give an instant energy boost, which makes you reckless and wild,
But if you take drugs and know the risks you are a very silly child.

The last line says it all.

The problem with drugs & addictive behavior is that it is soooo elusive... it lies and swallows people whole... it's hard to stop doing something that is bad for you, even when intelligently, you know it's bad for you...because both emotionally and physically, addiction grabs a person by their throat and pulls them in...

It is good to see that you are relaying the message that this is a deadend street. I don't know why you would choose the pen name you chose, unless your sole purpose of posting here is to try to bring the anti-drug message to the public. I hope that is the case.

I wrote a poem called "Limbo" about a friend of mine who is incarcerated for perscription fraud. I am going to post it now and perhaps you can read it and give me your reaction.

Thanks.

btw, you seem to have a way with words and enjoy writing.... I hope we can see some poetry by you on other subjects, too.

Be well.

there is anger and frustration here. along with a desire to spread a message that you seem to have learned the hard way. i'm glad you have the courage to fight. thanks. and good luck.

We all got somethin' we need to atone for.

Debbie, I read you poem several times.  It is well written, but more importantly, it's message and emotion are so strong.  Thank you for sharing.
