The journey

Together on a journey
Where the heart is in control
Leading always somewhere
Where logic plays no roll

Captivated with the freedom
That this journey often brings
The consequences are forgotten
For the moment pleasure sings

Giving in to temptation
As your eyes begin to glaze
Loosing all inhibition
In this unforgiving maze

As the journey lingers
All thoughts run through your mind
You want so much to stay
If only reality should be so kind

You realize the day will come
Where someone will pay the price
For journey’s such as this one
Come with a sacrifice

A sacrifice of love
The pain of letting go of your lover
Knowing from the very beginning
He always belonged to another

In this maze of many turns
With each turn you hit a wall
Knowing at any moment
Someone may take the fall

At times wondering if fleeing
Is the best that you could do
Thinking that maybe by leaving
Things would work themselves through

No matter how you look at it
There will come a day
And the question you will ask
Are you going to leave this journey
Or
Are you going to stay

Beautifully done.

You've given this piece life with such questions...nicely writ!

Severn:  Thanks, I know that all too well.

Jeremiah:  Thanks for complimenting my writing. I enjoy all types of works, happy or dark but sometimes when I read poems that are too dark I find I put myself in the position of the one who's writing it and it upsets me, so I try to stay with poems that are not too dark. I've got to admit though, that I will read more of the darker one's when I'm feeling down. Maybe it's not the right time to be reading them, but I do it anyway.

Tempress:  Thank-you, I'm happy that enjoyed it.

Dave:  Thank-you, and I'm glad you liked the ending but answering that question is the hardest thing to do. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.

Netswan:  Hi, and thanks

Claire:  Thanks, journey's such as this are always moving and questions are everywhere. Glad you enjoyed it.

Here kitty kitty would you like some kitty nip!
Hi kat I missed you!
You should take a journey over here and try some
chicken soup I made for you. Bring the next recipe
And I’ll get started on the third one.
Don’t forget your apron!

Insect:  Third recipe you say, well um, if you take a look at what happened with the second recipe it didn't work-out so well. As far as the apron goes, I will only wear it if it's clean. LOL

I'm glad you liked "The Journey"
Thanks!

Kat, I really enjoyed this poem, wonderfully written.

LOve is indeed a journey, with may high lights and some low points and some very interesting sites to see.

Brian:  Yes, life is a journey with the highs and lows and in between.  I guess if you look at the overall picture it balances out but it would be nice if the majority of life was more highs then anything else. Thanks for taking the time to post. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I haven't been able to check up on Passions as of late, but I'm glad I could read this piece from you. Your words speak such truth.

^_^ Amanda

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate, Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date. Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimmed; And every fair from fair sometimes declines, By chance or nature's changing course, untrimmed. But thy eternal summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st; Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st.
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
William Shakespeare
