Low beneath a desert sky
we shelter secure in each others company,
reminiscing of when we knew only joy.
Reality grips up with a shiver
reminding me we stand at cross-roads
that are destined to steal you away from my side.

Standing on the edge I reflect
on our Celebration room;
a million heartbeats from here,
where alcohol flowed freely,
flooding the floors we swam
wearing only truths and tasting sweet life.

While we are lost in gentle smiles
a sorrow swells inside of me,
as I mourn the cross of anxiety
you carry alone in the early stages
of your new birth.
Loved ones need not understand only support.

We exchanged our secrets now with ease,
Though it strengthened our ties
new barriers arose. In the beginning
I felt as a stranger, unable to relate.
In time it bound us closer to share
a love more intimate than any romance.

In our sanctuary I am content,
yet our destinies lie in a future
choked with uncertainties.
I struggle now to preserve our precious memories
knowing that when we fall in time,
we will land so far apart.

This is very descriptive, Brian, both in the picturesque images of the desert the first line brought to mind and the pain and loneliness felt. Very good work.

Hi Brian,

I love stanza four and five, talk about wisdom to gain a veiw like this takes knowing ones soul completely to the point of understanding feeling projected on the spot, which is something that has take time to learn and much trial and errow. Very powerful and beautiful peice here Brian, so much enjoyed this poem.

Love, Cerenity

stolen only from our side...
never from our hearts...
the gift of this love...a soft place to fall
you know ... I know ... our hearts know.
perfect poem Bri, one of my favs of yours.

It's amazing
How you make your face just like a wall
How you take your heart and turn it off
How I turn my head and you lose it all ...
And it's unnerving
(How one move just puts me by myself)
There you go just trusting someone else
(Now I know I put us both through hell) ...
I'm not sayin
That there was nothing wrong
(I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me)
And I'm not sayin
(We ever had the right to hold on)
(I just didn't wanna let you get away from me)

She says baby,
It's 3AM ... I must be lonely,
When she says baby,
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes,
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it.

Brian,
I ditto what Janet said, and looks like this stanza is going to be revered at least by me...
In our sanctuary I am content,
yet our destinies lie in a future
choked with uncertainties.
I struggle now to preserve our precious memories
knowing that when we fall in time,
we will land so far apart

....
Wonderful writing, my friend...
Regards,
Sudhir

Elizabeth, thanks for your wonderful response, I miss her dearly but I treasure the memories of our time together.

Cerenity, thanks for your wonderful reply.
I am not sure if I know my soul completely, they are still some dark corners, but it is a better place since I met Roisin.

Janet, I totally agree, some bonds last forver. thanks for lovely reply.

Sudhir, parting is never easy and I miss her more as each day goes on. thanks for reading and replying.
