The silence that surrounds me
Is a friend I've always known.
It is a constant reminder
That I'm within my world alone.

Though the eyes remain open,
No light shines within.
There is only total darkness.
This is the way it's always been.

Like one lonely rosebud
Left to flourish after the frost.
Struggling to survive
Feeling abandoned and lost.

But inside these dark silent walls,
A familiar voice can be heard.
Guiding with gentle hands.
Speaking without words.

WOW!!!

I'd like to say how very beautifully written this is, but the words escape me. I mean words like....

exquisite, excellent, poetically perfect, ummm...well you get the point

WOW!!!!

 All my love,
Jeffrey

I can really relate to your words, Up until 2 yrs ago I felt alone in the world, locked away in my own world until I met two very special people who no matter how far away are always close at hand.

I second what Jeffery said, a wonderfully written poem.

"The silence that surrounds me
Is a friend I've always known."

excellent poem.

"To be nobody-but-yourself-in a world which is doing its best night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting."

E.E Cummings.

"Art is a lie which makes us realise the truth." Pablo Picasso

"We Irish are too poetical to be poets, we are a nation of brilliant failures" Oscar Wilde

Jeffrey, thank you so much for all the accolades.

ethome, yes it's always good to know there is someone there with you no matter what.

Brian, I'm glad those two special people came into your life.  Hope all is well now and you don't feel so alone.  Thank you.
